Jutting farther out into the ocean than any other point on the Florida coast, Jupiter was responsible for guiding ships along the coast as early as 1550. Jupiter is rich in history and Florida lore with earliest known records of the Jupiter Inlet dating back to 1565.

The town enjoys a vibrant cultural life as the home of the Florida History Center & Museum, and several annual arts and entertainment festivals.
